Federer Rolex Jubilee Dial Spotted at Arthur Ashe Return

The Federer Rolex Jubilee dial pairing has arrived, and it came with a backhand. Roger Federer stepped back onto the Arthur Ashe Stadium court this week as part of a Legends Series ahead of the US Open in Flushing Meadows, and the watch on his wrist turned almost as many heads as the tennis.

According to DMARGE, it was Federer’s first appearance at Arthur Ashe since 2019. He was there to mark his induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, lining up alongside old foe Andy Roddick and tennis greats including John McEnroe and Andre Agassi in front of a packed, vocal stadium. The occasion called for something worth looking at. He delivered.

A Dial a Century in the Making

On his wrist: the new Rolex Oyster Perpetual with the so-called Jubilee dial, one of the more expressive pieces the brand has released in some time. The watch carries a monogrammed, multicoloured dial that repeats the Rolex name across its entire surface. It is loud, it is colourful, and it is very deliberate.

DMARGE reports that the Jubilee motif traces back to the 1970s, when Rolex first used it in exactly this way, spelling the brand name repeatedly across the dial face. Its return this year is no coincidence. 2026 marks 100 years since Rolex patented the Oyster case, and the Jubilee dial is the centrepiece of that anniversary. The design drew a mixed reception when it was first announced, but it has moved quickly to become the flagship piece of the Oyster centenary.

The Federer Rolex Jubilee dial combination is, by his own recent standards, a shift. In the years since stepping back from the tour, he has gravitated toward rarer, more technical pieces, an off-catalogue Daytona loaded with sapphires being the obvious example. Before that phase, he was reliably understated: low-key luxury, nothing that announced itself too loudly. This watch announces itself. The dial is there to be seen from the back row.

Federer’s Rolex Relationship Runs Deep

None of this happens by accident. Federer has been a Rolex ambassador for years, and Time 4 Diamonds reports that his agreement with the brand is rumoured to be worth around $8 million a year, with the deal understood to run until 2026. That timeline lines up neatly with the Oyster centenary campaign, and the Legends Series appearance gave him a global stage to put the watch in front of exactly the kind of audience Rolex would want to reach.

Last year he played a similar role, appearing with a then-unreleased Land-Dweller before its official launch. Teasing new references before they hit the market has become something of a pattern. The Jubilee dial Oyster Perpetual had already been in the wild for nearly five months before this week, but seeing it on Federer’s wrist at a packed Arthur Ashe carries a different weight to a boutique display.

The watch itself sits at $6,750, which by Rolex standards puts it well within reach, this is not the exotic end of the catalogue. At 36mm, it also lands squarely in what has become the preferred size for a steel everyday piece. The Oyster Perpetual has always been the most accessible entry point to the brand, and the Jubilee dial gives it something to say for itself.

Whether or not the combination of Federer, a Hall of Fame induction, and one of the brand’s most colourful anniversary releases shifts demand further remains to be seen at retail. What is not in doubt is that the Federer Rolex Jubilee dial moment this week gave the watch the most watched platform it has had yet, courts, not wrists, being the reason the cameras were rolling in the first place.
