Carlos Alcaraz Rolex Daytona Le Mans: The Watch Behind His Big Return

The Carlos Alcaraz Rolex Daytona pairing has become one of sport’s more reliable sights, but the watch on his wrist for his US Open comeback was something different altogether. Back on court after a right wrist injury that had kept him out for over four months, Alcaraz chose a special-edition Rolex Daytona ‘Le Mans’ to mark the occasion, a rare yellow-gold model loaded with details that most observers would walk straight past.

A Return Built in Stages

The road back to Flushing Meadows did not begin with singles. According to Yahoo Sports, Alcaraz made his first appearance on court at the US Open in the mixed doubles earlier in the week, easing himself back into competitive play before stepping out for his singles campaign. When the singles match arrived, he wore a compression sleeve over the wrist, though it appeared precautionary: he dispatched Roman Safiullin in straight sets without visible trouble.

‘I’m just really, really happy that I was able to compete again,’ Alcaraz said in his post-match interview.

The injury that triggered the absence was sustained at the Barcelona Open, Tennis365 reports, with the right wrist problem keeping him away from the tour for over four months. A comeback built through mixed doubles before singles is a measured way back, and it appears to have worked.

The Carlos Alcaraz Rolex Daytona Le Mans, Explained

The watch itself is worth slowing down for. The Daytona ‘Le Mans’ was first released in 2023 as a stainless steel model, created by Rolex to commemorate 100 years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. Alcaraz’s version is the yellow-gold edition that followed in 2024. At a glance it reads as a standard yellow-gold Daytona, but the specific details are where it diverges. The ‘100’ on the bezel is marked in red, a direct nod to the race’s centenary. More practically, the movement itself was modified so the chronograph tracks 24 hours rather than the usual 12, a logical adjustment for a watch built around a day-long race.

This is now the fourth Daytona variant Alcaraz has been spotted wearing. When he won Wimbledon in 2024 he had a yellow-gold model with a rubber strap and meteorite dial on his wrist. He has also worn a platinum, diamond-set Daytona with Eastern Arabic numerals. And then there is the turquoise-dial Daytona that watch sites had already taken to calling ‘The Alcaraz’, such was the frequency with which he appeared in it. The Le Mans edition is the most specific of the four: a limited model with a technical modification and a centenary story behind it, rather than simply a visual variation.

The rest of the comeback look was equally considered. The buzzcut is gone, replaced by longer, curling hair held back with an Alice band. New Jordans, a full kit designed by rapper Travis Scott, and that yellow-gold chronograph completed the picture. It is a lot of moving parts, none of them accidental.

The Le Mans watch carries its own logic as a comeback choice. A timepiece built around 24-hour endurance, modified at the movement level to track the full race distance, worn by a player returning from four months on the sidelines, does its own talking. Whether the wrist holds up across a deep run at Flushing Meadows will matter far more than the bezel detail, but for now, Alcaraz is back, and his choice of watch suggests he intends to stay.
