Emma Stone Telluride Hair Moment: Long Waves After the Buzz Cut

At the Telluride Film Festival, Emma Stone’s Telluride hair appearance turned heads for reasons beyond the films she was there to promote: she arrived with what is easily her longest hair in years, loose waves spilling mostly over one shoulder in a softly side-parted style that looked a long way from the closely cropped look she wore not so long ago.

From Buzz Cut to Long Waves: The Emma Stone Telluride Hair Transformation

The journey to this point has been anything but gradual. Stone shaved her head to play Michelle Fuller in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia, according to WWD. From that starting point, her hair has clearly had some catching up to do. Barely four months ago, it had grown back to shoulder length in a lob with a notably less red tone than the copper she wore for years. The waves she showed at Telluride stretch well past that, long enough that a growth-only explanation would require something close to a foot of new hair in roughly 16 weeks, which is not how hair works. Extensions, then, seem the more probable story, and they are very good ones: the blend at the root is seamless, and the highlights she debuted earlier in the year are still doing their job, brighter at the ends and around the face, darker and perfectly blended where they meet the new growth.

The colour and the cut aside, the style itself was relaxed, the kind of effortless wave that reads as natural even when it has clearly had some help. She joined co-stars onstage for discussions about the films, wearing the look with no visible fuss.

Two Films, One Festival, and a Producer Credit

Stone was at Telluride promoting two projects: You Can See Everything and The Debut. Getty Images records her attendance at the world premiere of You Can See Everything on 5 September 2026 in Telluride, Colorado. Her involvement with the film runs deeper than a performance: WWD reports that Stone co-produced it alongside Eisenberg, Herting and Dave McCary. It is a level of creative investment that puts the festival appearance in a different light, this was not simply an actor doing a press run, but someone with a producing stake showing up for a film she helped bring into existence.

The hair, whether intentional or incidental, added to that sense of occasion. Long waves at a major festival carry a different weight than the cropped styles she wore through the Bugonia shoot. Whether the length is a personal choice, something carried over from a current project, or a nod to hairstylist Mara Roszak’s own long waves, as has been speculated, is not yet clear.

What Comes Next

Stone is not someone who has historically treated her hair as a statement piece in the way some in her field do. She has worn a buzz cut for a role, grown it back, gone auburn, gone lighter, and now arrived at something that resembles a classic old-Hollywood wave length. Each of those shifts has tended to track with whatever she was working on rather than a desire to project a particular image off-screen.

The Telluride appearance, with two films in the programme and a producer credit on one of them, suggests her schedule is not slowing down. The world premiere of You Can See Everything on 5 September 2026 marks the first major public outing for that project, and Stone’s presence, in every sense, was squarely centre stage.
