Ralph Lauren US Open Collection: 60-Plus Pieces Built for Court and Beyond

The Ralph Lauren US Open collection for this year’s tournament runs to more than 60 pieces, covering everything from hyper-technical on-court gear to vintage-inspired knitwear, and it lands as one of the more considered drops the brand has put out under its long-running partnership with the final Grand Slam of the season.

Polo Ralph Lauren has been one of the official merchandise partners for the US Open for years. That relationship shows in the range. This is not a handful of branded tees pushed out to shift units during tournament week. The collection spans the same gear worn by chair umpires and ball crews on court, through to souvenir jackets, cable-knit cardigans, fleece long-sleeves, rugby shirts and chino ball caps. The breadth is deliberate, and it earns its scope.

What the Ralph Lauren US Open Collection Actually Covers

Start with the on-court technical pieces. The Ball Crew Short at $125 and the Ball Crew Track Pant at $140 are built for the rigours of court duty, which means they are more than capable of handling a hill walk in variable weather or a long session on the bike. The 7.5″ Textured Short at $198 takes that further, adding what the brand describes as a thermal quality to the leg, a detail that makes considerably more sense once the evenings start drawing in.

The Polo Tennis Rugby Shirt at $198 pulls references from several different sports into a single garment, and somehow it coheres. That is a harder thing to pull off than it sounds. The Polo Tennis Polo Shirt at $150 goes in a cleaner direction, royal blue, unambiguously American in its tournament allegiance, with no nod whatsoever to the traditions of Wimbledon and the All England Club. Good. Different surfaces, different rules, different kit.

The Pieces Worth Looking at First

The Big Fit Logo Sweatshirt at $298 is cut with the oversized proportions of a 1990s quarter-zip but built with current performance fabric. That combination tends to work well for the kind of person who needs a mid-layer that travels from a cold morning on the hill to something that does not look out of place in a pub afterwards.

At the other end of the price range, the Classic Fit Graphic T-Shirt at $75 is the straightforward souvenir tee done properly. The Polo Tennis Chino Ball Cap at $80 will look considerably better once it has taken some weather. Both are the sort of pieces that get worn hard for years after the tournament has been forgotten.

The Cable-Knit Umpire Cardigan at $228 is the outlier that gives the collection its personality. Chair umpires will wear it in August heat and catch grief for it. Off the court, worn into autumn, it makes considerably more sense, the kind of heavy knitwear that earns its place at a bothy or a cold-evening campsite.

The Souvenir Jacket at $598 is the top of the range. Orange sleeve detailing, the kind of colourway that nods to the tournament’s signature Honey Deuce aesthetic. It is a statement piece, and it is priced accordingly.

The Fleece Long-Sleeve Polo Shirt at $228 rounds out the cold-weather end of the range and serves as a reminder that the US Open buzz, for those who feel it, tends to persist well past the final weekend, and the weather that follows is fleece weather, whichever side of the Atlantic you are on.

The collection is live now on the Ralph Lauren site. Given the pace at which pieces have been moving, waiting is not a strategy.
