How to upload your kit

Step one : Login or register as a standard In the Elements member (you can do this in the top left corner of the page)

Step two : (Once logged in) Hover over the ‘Your Info‘ tab

Step Three : Select ‘Add/Edit kit‘

Step four : Complete the form with your products details. Make sure you are using small images (If you want to resize your images then I would recommend www.picresize.com Quick and easy. Facebook image size is perfect).

Step five : Press ‘Add item‘ Now your kit is live on the Kitshack.

If you want to add more kit or edit any previous post, then go through the same process.

How do I know if some one is interested? They will message you and you can deal with them direct, expect a email saying “you have a message from In The Elements”

How to buy someones kit? If you click on their product it will send you to their profile page, from there it will ask you to Login/register to message the seller. Then just send them a message and they will reply.

Note: Once your kit has been sold please remove it!

Shooting from the Cliffs – Surf photography at Freshwater Bay

“Stopped by at Freshwater Bay on my way home from indoor cricket last Sunday to do a quick surf check and spotted two very lucky people who were the only ones out there just as the winds died down enough to let a few nice waves through. I didn’t shoot from either of my normal spots in the bay (or even on the rocks by the cabbage patch) as i wanted to see how well the 500mm would work from the cliffs on the left hand side over by the Stag Rock. Take a look at the results and let me know what you think? I like the angle, more down the throat of the wave, but obviously you cant get as close to the action from up there. Found out later it was one of my mates and another of the Freshwater indoor cricket team Sam Scadgell who was one of the lucky two!”

I have managed to get two more high quality guest cams up onto the site thanks to our friends at Tiki. Coryde and Woolacombe beaches

The two new cams are overlooking Croyde bay and Woolacombe bay and have been supplied by Tiki (so big thanks to them). The Cams are staying the site for a 3 month trial, so if you like have these cam on In The Elements please help support them by liking and sharing with you friends and obviously click on Tiki’s adverts next to the cams and check out their great products.

Croyde Bay

Croyde is a great surfing venue, the rides are generally short as the waves tend to pitch up and break quickly. There is a point break off Down End. There is a reef break at the northern (Baggy Point) end of the beach that works for about 60 minutes during some high tides. The shape of the bay funnels waves towards the beach. The beach is also steeper than either Woolacombe, Putsborough or Saunton Sands. Due to this, rip currents are extremely strong especially near the rocks at either end of the beach and at low tide, even when there is only a small swell. These currents present danger to the strongest of swimmers. Any bathing should be done within the lifeguard-patrolled area. The break is very compact at low tide, resulting in many injuries, so beware!

Spot review

Drive down to the esplanade carpark and walk 50 metres into the water. Cafe on the beach is good and cheap. 3surf shops in town do everything inc rental of suits / boards and surf school. Eat at the Red Barn in the evening, huge portions, great food, cheap and lost of surfers and surfing decor too. Life guards patrol from 2 4X4 in high season, There is a woolacombe longboarders club for thw older dudes like me. Special access off the rocks near the benches on the headland, only accessable at high tide and best left to the locals as there are plenty of rocks under water. Otherwise plenty of other peaks, best are at the town end and the other opposite the tiny river mouth. Info by David Billington
